Be Part of the Change:
The battle for our children's future begins at the school board and provincial level. As a New Leaf Trustee, you will be the driving force behind this critical transformation. You'll be at the forefront, passionately fighting for these core principles to reshape our education system:
Advocate for a Parents Bill of Rights: Empower parents to actively participate in their child's education, giving them a powerful voice to shape K-12 curriculum objectives. This includes restoring neutrality by removing DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and CRT (Critical Race Theory) policies and ensuring the safety of girls in sports, field trips, and washrooms. This legislation will hold schools accountable and ensure that parents' perspectives are integral to educational decisions.
Restructure Governance: Lead the overhaul of governance structures to prioritize parent advocacy at all educational levels. This includes establishing elected school councils, creating formal mechanisms for parental involvement, and ensuring transparency and accountability in decision-making processes.
Champion Free Speech: Stand up for the right to free speech by granting immunity to parents and trustees. This bold move protects those who speak out against injustices, fostering an environment where open dialogue and robust expression are not just allowed but encouraged within our educational community. This ensures that diverse perspectives are heard and respected, contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic educational environment.
By embracing these fundamental changes, we aim to pioneer a new era of education—one that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering for all. Together, we will create a brighter future for parents, where their voices are heard, their concerns are met, and their potential is valued.
Become a New Leaf Trustee today and join us in this crucial battle. Let's take a stand, make a difference, and ensure that our education system works for everyone. 🚀📚
Put Forward Critical Motions: The First 100 Days
Reverse Policies Restricting Free Speech: Motion to overturn any policies and school board bylaws that limit your voice in educational matters. This is a crucial step to ensure that all stakeholders can freely express their views and concerns without fear of censorship.
Remove Divisive Policies: Motion to eliminate all DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and CRT (Critical Race Theory) policies and bylaws that divide rather than unite. This aims to foster a more inclusive and cohesive educational environment.
Limit Arbitrary Powers: Motion to curtail the powers of Supervisory Officers and Directors of Education, ensuring parents can question policies without obstruction. This is essential for maintaining transparency and accountability in educational governance.
Revamp Restorative Justice Policies: Motion to replace failed restorative justice policies with responsible discipline, reallocating DEI funding to increase SRO (School Resource Officer) and CYW (Child and Youth Worker) staffing. This will enhance school safety and support for students.
Revive Parents' Bill of Rights: Motion to urge the Minister of Education to fulfill the 2018 PC promise of legislating a Parents' Bill of Rights. This legislation will empower parents to be active participants in their child's education and hold schools accountable.
Include Recall Measures: Motion to add recall provisions in the Code of Conduct for trustees who breach public confidence. This will ensure that trustees are held accountable for their actions and can be removed if they fail to uphold public trust.
Amend Textbook Policies: Motion to prevent school boards from bypassing ministry-approved books and selecting controversial supplementary materials to push DEI and social justice objectives. This will ensure that educational materials are consistent with approved standards and avoid unnecessary controversy.
